Bemis Performance Packaging takes home a special jury award for its innovative Peel N' Tear label technology.

Flexible packaging products manufacturer Bemis Performance Packaging of Oshkosh, Wis., has been named the recipient of a special jury innovation award.

The award is from the recently-concluded 2012 Global Packaging Design competition of the U.S.-based Beverage World magazine for the company’s patented Peel N’ Tear label technology—featuring an extended rollfed label to provide a patented, perforated and removable coupon.

Developed as a labeling solution for small bottles and containers, the Peel N’ Tear label features a peelable corner enticing consumers to tear off the perforated coupon to reveal the special gaming code or other product information—including variable gaming, cross-merchandising, new product launches, or rebates and discounts—while directing consumers to the product’s website.

According to Bemis, a full product label remains on the bottle after the coupon’s removal to ensure that both the UPC and deposit copy remain attached to the containers—allowing them to pass through both the prize redemption and the recycling processes downstream.

“The Peel N’ Tear platform offers our customers a unique approach to bottle labeling and targeted communication with the end consumer. The concept was borne out of collaboration with our allied equipment partners to deliver true innovation to the beverage market,” says J.B. Fisher, general manager of the beverage segment for Bemis Performance Packaging.
