New chemistries for printing and packaging to debut at NPIRI 2013.

WYANDOTTE, MI—BASF, the chemical company, is looking to introduce new chemistries for the printing and packaging industry at the 2013 National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NPIRI) Technical Conference, October 2-4, in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

BASF says its innovative solutions can help meet the printing and packaging challenges of the 21st century.

“The capabilities of our technical experts, products and technologies that support the printing and packaging industry are broad and diverse, and by actively creating solutions together, ink and overprint varnish formulators can leverage these strengths,” says BASF in North America Industry Manager for Printing & Packaging Rick Grandke.

BASF will also conduct the following product presentations during the tabletop exhibits and reception session beginning at 5PM on Wednesday, October 2:

  • Irgacure LEX 201, a dual function, low migration photoinitiator for UV curable inks and overprint varnishes for packaging applications;
  • Joncryl FLX 5100 and Joncryl FLX CL1, a 2-pack system for flexible packaging inks with excellent resistance properties and a long pot life; and,
  • Joncryl FLX 5200, a water-based polyurethane dispersion for flexible packaging inks with good adhesion to a wide variety of films.

The Dispersions & Pigments Division in North America offers a comprehensive portfolio of resins, binders, latex, pigments and effect pigments, colorants, and systems to meet specific application needs for the coatings, construction, and printing and packaging markets.

The innovative products help manufacturers in the adhesives, nonwovens and fiber bonding industries meet functional and performance demands. The addition of key product areas such as formulation additives, rheology modifiers, light stabilizers, photoinitiators, and antioxidants significantly enhances the existing BASF product portfolio for these markets.
