PolyOne names new president of new division

CLEVELAND — PolyOne Corporation, a premier global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions, has announced that Julie A. McAlindon has been appointed to the position of senior vice-president as well as president of Designed Structures and Solutions (DSS), a new business segment under Polyone’s Specialty Platform.
Concurrent with the soon-to-be finalized acquisition of Spartech, PolyOne will establish DSS, which will be primarily comprised of Spartech’s former custom sheet and rollstock and packaging technologies businesses.
“Since Julie joined PolyOne three years ago, she has been an integral part of PolyOne’s Specialty transformation. She understands our customers, our key markets and how to deliver value that distinguishes us in the marketplace,” says Robert M. Patterson, executive vice-president and chief operating officer. “Julie also has the requisite leadership qualities and change management skills that will be critical during the integration process and transformational journey now commencing at DSS. She and her family are relocating to the St. Louis area, which will continue as the DSS center of innovation excellence.”
McAlindon previously served as vice-president of marketing, where she collaborated with commercial and technology teams on initiatives to drive profitable growth at PolyOne in key markets, such as healthcare, electronics and automotive.
She joined PolyOne after a 20-year career with The Dow Chemical Company, during which time she held commercial assignments of increasing responsibility focused on strategic marketing and business leadership. In these roles, she gained extensive knowledge and global experience in operations, finance, product management and strategic marketing.
