PMMI and PAC — The Packaging Association are bringing PAC Green Den to the PACK EXPO International 2010 tradeshow in Chicago this Oct. 31 –  Nov. 3, 2010.

The inventive program, “Fast Tracking Sustainable Innovation,” takes place Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1:00–4:30 pm; at McCormick Place.

“It’s a combination reality show and panel discussion, and a great way to give knowledgeable buyers a look at exciting, new sustainable packaging solutions,” says Charles D. Yuska, president & chief executive officer of PMMI, the owner and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows.

The hugely successful event held for the first time in Toronto on  February 23, 2010 is the brainchild of the PAC, with the PAC Green Den bringing together the ingredients of successful reality television and business matchmaking.

Innovative entrepreneurs will be afforded the opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of experts with sustainability, regulatory and packaging experience, in front of a live audience of brand owners and retailers. After the expert panelists challenge the innovators and deliver constructive feedback, the audience will vote for a Best of Show winner with the three top winners receiving PAC Green Den Sustainable Awards.

Innovators will conduct 15-minute private meetings with brand owners to discuss their creative offerings in greater depth. They will have approximately seven minutes to present their cases to the panel and audience, with the remaining eight minutes to respond to feedback and commentary.

“Brand owners and retailers are bombarded with inquiries from inventors and wish to explore every new sustainable package and process opportunity but don’t always have the time,” explains James D. Downham, PAC president and chief executive officer. “PAC is bringing this program to PACK EXPO because we know leading packaging buyers will be there to find the best solutions to their sustainability-related challenges.”

The PAC Green Den Match Maker committee will select no more than 10 entries from submissions by PACK EXPO exhibitors. Entries must come from PACK EXPO exhibitors. The guiding light for the entries is the Sustainable Packaging Coalition definition which incorporates all aspects of sustainability as related to sustainable packaging. Suppliers of raw materials, package containers, manufacturing and/or facility processes and consulting services are invited to submit their entries.

Innovator entry forms are online at www.pac.ca.

The program, open to all attendees of PACK EXPO, will be covered by a separate fee. Attendees can register at www.Packexpo.com.
