Organic Meadow LP of Guelph, Ont. has launched Canada’s first organic shelf stable single-serve milk—an organic milk that is portable and doesn’t require refrigeration until after opening.

The single-serve milk is organic, GMO-free, contains no preservatives and is Kosher, as well as fresh and tasty, and all without refrigeration.

Available in two varieties—2% white, and chocolate—the single-serve milk is now the perfect take-along snack for kids and adults.

Shelf stable milk is aseptic milk, produced by combining the pasteurization of milk at UHT (ultra high temperature) and then packaging it in a special packaging format created by Tetra Pak—a 250-ml Tetra Prisma Aseptic carton that helps extend shelf-life.

The UHT pasteurization process kills bacteria present within the sealed package, while the Tetra Pak carton prevents light and air from entering or other potential contaminants.

The Organic Meadow organic single serve milk products have a shelf-life up to six months, even without refrigeration.

The aseptic/shelf stable milk products have been available in Europe for decades, but is still a fairly new product in North America.
