As an innovative manufacturer of labels, Metro Label Group Inc., headquartered in Toronto specializes in producing product lines for a multitude of market segments like: beverages, wine & spirits; food products; household and gardening; personal care; petrochemicals and paints; pharmaceutical and nutraceutical; and promotions for the North and Central American markets.
And, on June 16, 2011, Metro Label is opening ups it doors to showcase its advanced technology, innovative new processes and smart work environment.
Employing about 130 people, the 132,000-square-foot LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified (green building certification system) Toronto-facility was built in 2005 to create a safe environment for its employees while also allowing it to grow and create high-quality label products for its customer base.
Designed with an abundance of natural light openings, the building utilizes low-wattage lighting in the administration offices and manufacturing plant, which are automatically controlled by motion sensors that shut off when the area is empty. In addition, the manufacturing facility uses a central heat recovery system that captures exhaust from all printing presses which it filters and reuses to heat the building. Moreover, all of the ceiling tiles and drywall are made from recycled fibers, Lal relates, while all the system furniture utilizes wood made from wheat stalk.
Says company president Sandeep Lal: “We’re always going to great lengths to serve you better at Metro Label. Now, we want to show you what the extra mile looks like.”
