A U.S.-event, this year’s special day is the sixth annual.

Happy Tuesday, October 3, 2017! Or, if you prefer, happy Manufacturing Day – a U.S. national event that wants American manufacturers to open up their facility doors and show just what manufacturing is, and isn’t.

The whole idea behind it, is for manufacturers—working together during and after Manufacturing Day, to: address the skilled labor shortage; connect with future generations; take charge of the public image of manufacturing; and to ensure the prosperity of the industry as a whole.

Who’s Behind Manufacturers Day (taken directly from www.mfgday.com/about-us).
Created by Founding Partner Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International in 2012, MFG DAY has enjoyed support from many organizations aligned with its mission of positively changing the public perception of modern manufacturing. Organizations that have played a vital role in working with FMA to successfully grow this national celebration of all things manufacturing include the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).

MFG DAY is now produced annually by the NAM with key contributions and support from the MEP and the MI.

To avoid conflict, let’s acknowledge that the NAM is a preeminent U.S. manufacturers association, as well as the nation’s largest industrial trade association, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states.

In 2016, there were more than 2,800 participating Manufacturing Day hosts across the U.S.
